News Content of Oman Television Ten O’clock News Bulletin: An Analytical Study

The changes that took place in the Omani television recently, impose on researchers the need to analyze the content of its news bulletin, and explore the reflection of these changes on the news bulletin. This study aims to analysis the content of the news bulletin in Omani television. It seeks to define the media mission and extract its main features by using the sampling survey methodology. To achieve the objective, the researchers analyzed the content of a sample consisted of (30) of 10 p.m news bulletins for a total of 12 hours and 15 minutes), which were chosen based on a satellite week. The chosen sample was from April 2, 2013 to November 20, 2013. The main findings of this paper are that there was a rise in the political news compared to other topics. The security news was outperformed other topics due to the Arab spring. Regarding international news economic news was in the lead. In conclusion, this study recommended creation of balance of news events. Additionally, a revision of the deployment of the news art styles of Oman Television is recommended.

الملخص
في ضوء التغييرات التي شهدها تلفزيون عمان في الآونة الأخيرة، فقد ظهرت الحاجة لمعرفة مضامين نشرات الأخبار نظراً لأهميتها، ومدى انعكاس ذلك على النشرات. وتهدف هذه الدراسة الوصفية إلى تحليل مضمون نشرة أخبار العاشرة بتلفزيون سلطنة عمان، والتعرف على أبرز القوالب الفنية المستخدمة في المعالجة الإخبارية، والكشف عن أبرز خصائصها. كما اعتمدت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، باعتماد منهج المسح الإعلامي. حيث قام الباحثان بتحليل مضمون عينة قوامها (30) نشرة إخبارية، بلغت مدتها الإجمالية (12 ساعة و 1 دقيقة)، تم اختيارها بطريقة الأسبوع الاصطناعي، في الفترة من 2/ 4/ 2013 إلى 20/ 11/ 2013. بينت النتائج ما يأتي: تفوق مضامين القضايا ذات الطابع السياسي مقارنة بالموضوعات الأخرى. ارتفاع عدد الأخبار الأمنية في فئة القضايا العربية، بسبب تداعيات ثورات الربيع العربي، في حين احتلت الأخبار ذات الطابع الاقتصادي الصدارة في فئة الأخبار الدولية. وأوصى الباحثان بضرورة تحقيق التوازن في تغطية الأخبار وفق موضوع الخبر، وإعادة النظر في توظيف القوالب الفنية المستخدمة في المعالجة الإخبارية، والعمل على الاهتمام بالدراسات التي تقيم واقع نشرات الأخبار التلفزيونية.
