Abstract

The Sultanate of Oman has a great interest in preserving the environment, based on the strong link between geography and the environment; The problem appears in the poverty of the geographical decision of the preparatory stage in fulfilling the segnifance of the environment. After surveying the views with a sample of teachers on the course content, this study found that there is an urgent need to review the objectives and content of the geography course and enrich it with environmental subjects. The study choses to conduct this study, to discuss the availability of environmental variables in the objectives and content of the geography course. A list of (48) environmental variables was developed, which is divided into four axes: environment and environmental resources, environmental changes, environmental risks, environmental conservation, which must be reflected in the geography course at the preparatory stage. The objectives and content of this course were analyzed. The findings revealed that; the repetition of the normative bases in the objectives of the third grade was 8%. For the analysis of the course content, the normative bases for environmental changes in the content of the geography course for the third grade of the preparatory stage were presented by 12.6%.
